Lr Preset Samples | VSCO – Replichrome – Redleaf – Mastin

Examples of different Lightroom presets that emulate Portra 400. A quick look at VSCO vs Red Leaf vs Replichrome vs Mastin Labs vs Alien Skin Exposure vs Adobe Standard. No adjustments were made to the photo other than applying each preset. I put a frame with our import preset applied in the mix for comparison as well.

Which one is closest to real Kodak Portra 400? It depends on the light.. but they’re all in the ballpark.  I think the best route is to find one you like, that you can apply quickly to a broad range of light situations and stick with it.

For me, I think I will stick on VSCO.

Good comparison chart – find it funny how they are all trying to emulate the same thing but all look so different – all in the eye of the beholder!

I have tried Replichrome & VSCO & usually prefer how the Replichrome turns out but sometimes the VSCO looks better….always requires a little tweaking in my opinion anyways but definitely depends on the gear you shoot on & how your pictures starts off it seems…did you shoot to dark or bright, warmer cooler etc. Replichrome works better for my outdoor & Weddings & VSCO usually looks better on Boudoir & indoor

Did a post comparing VSCO & Replichrome on a few different images & also discussed shooting digital to look like film thought id share

VSCO I think is terribly accurate to true Portra 400!

What is the red leaf preset used? I am deciding between mastin and them. Thanks for your help.

Wow, I’ll stick with VSCO and Alien Skin. Replichrome might be worth looking into though, I think.
